Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I was texting Jilli at first when the Vampire Diaries ep was on because, since I'd seen it once and knew the story, I was wondering if it was a new ep and this was just a totally ~~moody~~ way to open. It was really cool, actually. But it would have sucked on a first run ep and likely with anything that didn't have vampires, emoting fog and rampant iliac crests.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, it was mysterious for the opening of Castle, so that worked, too. For a little while, anyway.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Great Castle episode, but the ending felt a bit rushed. I couldn't quite follow how the other guy had planned and executed it all, at that pace. Good story though.

Tonight's Criminal Minds: Very good!

Great regular cast continuity--Reid has another geekout dissertation, this time on Halloween (follow up on his previous love of the day as demonstrated back in S3's "About Face"), which is hilarious. Jack Hotchner still thinks his dad is a superhero (big awww moment at the end). Hotch still knows how to smile!

Terrific guest cast--wonderful to see Ernie Hudson again, and Leonard Roberts really did a great job under that heavy makeup/mask. And they finally got Michael Warren into a Charles Haid directed episode; Bobby and Renko together again!!! (As Elizabeth Bear points out on her site, CM lives in the same life's-not-fair world that Hill Street Blues existed in, so I loved this casting.)

Jack is the only thing that makes Hotch smile.

Tonight's CM seemed like the casting director said "let's find every black actor who ever played a police lieutenant!"

Watched H50 late this week, but the Danno quote of the week - "Not scared, just rationally concerned"

I don't think CM pops up anywhere.

Off-topic: I've missed the window to take you to the Polish place, but if you want to catch a movie or something anytime let me know. Now that I have a car I can actually go places.

Oh, definitely! Actually, if you're interested in going to Harry Potter when it opens, I'm trying to hook up with my friend Tami to go see it that weekend. Maybe you can come with? I'll email you and we'll see if we can set it up!
