Handsome brooding vampire guy has to swoop in all sensitive mouth and overhanging forehead. How 'bout leaving some scraps for the homely-looking fellows who don't turn evil when they get some?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

OK, with this casting thing ... how much is due to budget and how much do you think can be attributed to an attempt to go after a demographic that doesn't like watching intelligent, competent women doing active things without having to wait for a man to give them the go-ahead. cynics unite!

I think that it's a little of both. They want to cut their costs, but they think that the women are the least valued characters. As much as I like Rossi, Joe Mantegna can't be cheap. How about cutting him a few eps? Or having Hotch take some vacation time with Jack for an ep or two? That's got to save some money.

Oh, that's where Joe Mantegna's from? He was on the PBS ads for the Memorial Day festivities, and Hubby and I were going, "Are we supposed to know who that is?"

This is what I think too. Why not give each actor a two or three episodes off a season, similar to what Numb3rs was doing for a while?

exactly. It would be even easier with CM, since it's such an ensemble show. With Numb3ers, they always had to have Don and Charlie. All it would take is one offhand comment about Rossi's book tour or Morgan's sister getting married and it's done.

Right, and Hotch has even more of a reason to want to take some time off to be with his son than JJ does. Now, I kind of want to see an episode where NB has to fill in for Penelope.

"Riding the Lightning" just broke me. Completely and utterly. Wow.

I seem to recall that there was some buzz about this ep when it first aired, but I can't find anything online to back that up. Someone please let me know if I'm crazy?

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Missed it. Hope I can catch it some other time.

You must. The female guest star was incredible, and the intensity of everyone else's performance is so tight and low-key that it upped the emotional impact. I spent the last 10 of the episode crying.
