Zoe: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing? Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

'War Stories'

Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.

This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

The only other explanation I could come up with was that the actor decided to leave and this was their way of writing him out.

I'm so glad SOME shows did reruns this summer. I thoroughly enjoyed Bones and am looking forward to the next season. They'd better rerun next summer, though!

Oh good, I'm glad Medium has moved to Sunday, but it won't until January? Bummer. Sunday night's the best night of the week for getting in bed and watching TV in real time IMHO - it's my "appointment tv." I really like this show. I'm definitely an old bat - I'm sick of shows where oost is The Thing (which means I might really hate Pushing Daisies, the Ultimate All-Oost, All The Time story by the look of it; but we'll see). I enjoy and admire Medium for having a recognizable real relationship. And I love the detail that when Allison and Joe talk in bed, they just talk - they don't reach over and turn on a light. I hate that in a TV show; it's so unrealistic.

Art Crawl!!!

NBC has Sunday night football which is why they have nothing on Sunday 'til the Spring.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I love the whole family on Medium. The marriage is one of the best on TV.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Sumi, you're suggesting that a network should adapt its schedule when it has live football in the mix? Horrors! If CBS did that, we wouldn't miss half of every Sunday night show.

[And I say that as a football fanatic, ftr. You don't see football fans making dinner plans for 6 pm on Sunday - why can't CBS figure it out?]

Well, to be fair: the NBC football is at night. The CBS football is in the afternoon. In theory, it doesn't cut into the evening programming -- even though it actually cuts into it about every other week.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Well it's still baffling to me that networks appear to not know how long a football game takes. I always set the tivo for a half an hour longer than their scheduled coverage, 'cause it always runs over at least a bit. Okay, not always. But still. I guess they just would rather have programming scheduled and pre-empt it than have football scheduled and need to fill.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

The only other explanation I could come up with was that the actor decided to leave and this was their way of writing him out.

See, that was totally my assumption whilst watching, because in terms of consistent storytelling - not so much with the sense-making. But in terms of 'well, fuck, he's leaving - let's send him off with a big sexy HSQ bang, and hope the viewers will handwave the logic' it makes sense. Just - disappointing sense.

I need to step away from the whole consistency-of-storytelling thing and just enjoy the moment, I guess. 'Cause it's certainly a retcon narrative choice that brings lots of angsty thrills and spills, and that's always fun to watch.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

It drives me batshit that CBS can't move their programs 1 hour forward to accommodate football. That is one of the things that drove me away from "Cold Case" and "Without a Trace." That and the depressing subject matter of CC.

CBS just needs to put on some filler game show or something if a game doesn't run long so we can actually predict when a show is on.
