I think Colin could do it. But I don't know if he's shown that onscreen yet.

I'm pretty much just going off Eureka (and that short-lived horror series he did an episode of).
He has a deft hand with the irreverence and the flirtatiousness. And the sudden pulls for audience sympathy.
Yeah, and I could picturing him conning his way in somewhere, too. And he screws up onscreen without looking like a total schmuck, right? Which I think is a very "Rockford" quality...Rockford isn't cool all the time...he's not McGarrett(or Lance White)
I'm a recent NCIS convert, and I get whiplash every time I see a movie with young!McCallum and think of him as Ducky.
This doesn't happen to someone whose first drooling fangirl crush was Illya Nickovitch Kuryakin.
I could see Fillion or Colin as Rockford. My question is "Why?" All these remakes show a huge lack of originality and/or guts, while having the handicap of the inevitable comparison to the original.

I love when pictures of Illya show up on NCIS and they go, "Oh, look, Ducky as a youngster!"
Kate: "What did Ducky look like when he was younger?,"
Gibbs: "Illya Kuryakin."
My first fangirl crush was on Illya Kuryakin, too!
Even before Nathan was added to the Rockford discussion (with all of which I totally agree), I thought of Joe Flanigan. Turns out Flanigan is an adoptee too!
I'm not yet sure if Joe Flanigan can act. He was a good Sheppard, but it's not like he had to do much.
He was good as Alex on Cupid, but how hard can it be to make out with Paula Marshall? But he is really cute and seems to have decent comic timing
