I would say Lightman. Best daughter would be Castle's - but she grew up despite some questionable parenting skills.
Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.
This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]
I think Cal has too much friction in his relationship with Emily to win. I'd probably give the edge to Jack because Alexis kinda raises herself--or maybe Rick gets the points for doing that good a job. It's a hard call.
Cal is still head and shoulders above a lot of TV dads. But my favourite of the past decade is probably Sandy Cohen from The O.C.
Granted - once upon a time Keith Mars would have topped my list, but I'm hard pressed to decide among the three now.
And what's up with all the great dads being single? I'm trying to think of a recent married great dad, and the best I can come up with is Hal from Malcolm in the Middle. And Hank Hill, I guess.
Coach Taylor!
I should mention that the reason I brought this up here was I just watched the most recent Lie to Me and thought Cal lied bigtime to his daughter, he also came clean about it in a great way.
Sandy Cohen was married. I hated Keith Mars' relationship with Veronica. He didn't seem to spend much time fathering her. Zoe and Alexis are precocious, but they're teenagers and their fathers treat them like teens.
Yes, while I think that Keith and Veronica had a good relationship - it seems like she was taking care of him as much as he was taking care of her.
Sandy Cohen was a great tv dad.
Of the three you mention - I think that Jack Carter is still the tops. (Aren't Lightman's relationships all a little odd?)
Is it wrong for me to drive (four hours) to my sister's for Thanksgiving on Thursday morning instead of Wednesday afternoon, so that I can watch Criminal Minds as it airs?
Just saw this, and I'd just suggest filling the gas tank Wednesday afternoon so you don't risk having to hunt for an open gas station on a big holiday.
An excellent idea, Fred Pete, I'll do that.
