Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

but the detective yanking him around by his nose and spotting the perp in his lie while Castle was oblivious helped with that.

I wasn't a big fan of her throughout the ep, but this endeared her to me. She's definitely the big "meh" in the cast--some of her other cops were more charismatic than her.

The mom totally reminds me of Ruth Gordon in My Bodyguard.

Art Crawl!!!

I think one of my favorite things was Castle taking off his shoe and picking up the handcuff key with his toes.

I like that the show has a certain amount of whimsy. It's not a flat out comedy, but it's quite light-hearted in many ways. I do wish they had a different lead actress, though. I'm just not sold on her.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Yeah, I really didn't like her. I didn't think that she sold the "hard bitten cop" thing.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

::nods::

I thought the fact that she could - and would - bring in her complete collection of his books, with her personal bookplate, in and force them onto the other cops jarred. It just seemed ... girlish? fangirl-ish?

Though I did love the "Don't you read???"

Art Crawl!!!

I loved that too.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I distrust the reading creds of anyone who has matching hardback editions with pristine covers and bookplates. People have given me bookplates, and it is to laugh. Bookplates come in quantities expressed in two digits. My books come in quantities expressed in four digits.

I was irritated when, at the beginning, she said something about not having dates and another woman said, "You could wear some lipstick." Come on. She was, even by television standards, pretty heavily made up.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I didn't think that she sold the "hard bitten cop" thing.

I guess the reason I like her is because I don't think that she *is* "hard bitten" and she doesn't seem to be intended as such. I haven't read any blurbs on her character, but even if that's what she's been sold as, it doesn't play like she's even trying to be and failing. The chica from New Amsterdam struck me as such (trying and failing).

Hmmm. I think I have to agree with you, Juliebird. The detective isn't supposed to be that hard-bitten, because this show isn't focused primarily on the procedural part of it, so she doesn't need to be. I'm not quite sure what to call this show. It's not a rom-com, it's not a soap, it's vaguely procedural, but whatever you wanna call it, it's fun! I just don't personally care for the actress, I think I've only seen maybe three expressions on her face and two of them involve eye rolling.
