So, I watched the other UK import tonight -- Eleventh Hour. I didn't think I'd like it, and I was right. It's dman near impossible to equal the gravitas of Patrick Stewart, and it doesn't help that the first episode was practically word for word of the British version (even down to saying that someone was "struck off the medical register". We wouldn't say that, we'd say "lost their license" or something)
I'll watch next week, maybe I'll appreciate it more if it's not a direct comparison to Patrick Stewart.
I think he could be facing a lot of trouble for some of the stuff he did, but big lawsuits and citizens' commissions(and videotape) have changed policing a lot.

I was half falling asleep-- the one thing that got really old in a hurry was Imperioli's exaggerated metaphors.
I have to admit, though, just as Keitel's character was really starting to annoy me with his bullish, fist-first demeanor, he killed me with how he dealt with grandma. He may not have much respect for psychology as a discipline, but he has an inherent instinct for what makes people tick.

It was okay. I hope that they start writing for Jason O'Mara though. The stuff that works for John Simm doesn't work nearly so well with JO'M. That scene in the bar where he confronts Hunt? I thought, are you really going to beat up Grandpa? (Of course, Keitel really does look too old for the part and it's worse that O'Mara isn't the small wiry guy that John Simm is.)
And I thought that some of the music (although okay) was just pasted onto scenes weirdly.
Eleventh Hour - I don't know. Rufus Sewell and David Krumholtz: they look remarkably similar and are playing characters that also seem remarkably similar. Maybe if whatisface had a brother who was a feebie he wouldn't need the body guard.
It's too bad the Beeb's LoM isn't available through Netflix. I'd really like to see John Simm in that role. I enjoyed him immensely on Doctor Who.

I thought The Who was pasted on, but the use of Sweet was awesome, even if the song was a little on-the-nose.
