Yeah, they were definitely trying too hard, especially with the English reverse-Booth/Brennan. Everything was way too on the nose.
Some good character bits, nonetheless, but all too much sacrificing of characters along the way too.

And the Scotland yard detective: Susie from Torchwood!
OH SHIT!! Didn't even notice that. Well, at least she didn't get killed (or turn out to be the villain) this time.
Of course it does put her liberal sexual attitudes in a whole different light.
AND now I want a Bones/Torchwood x-over, complete with an appearance from Capt. John.
Yeah, the Angela/Hodgins thing was dumb. Somebody at the network must have said "That's boring! Break them up!"
And now a search for an assistant, which I guess they figured even they couldn't shoehorn into the premiere.
Susie from Torchwood!
Well, snap. I knew I'd seen her somewhere. Don't ask me why, but I really want to slash her with Brennan.
Mark Valley did that Booth role a lot more naturally and subtly in Keen Eddie. Way too over the top.
Well, and the way that Keen Eddie was filmed, in and of itself was sort of over the top and Monty was such a great foil for him (love me some Julian Rhind-Tutt). If Mark had overplayed it would have really stuck out, don't you think?
Man I wish that show had lasted. It was like an inverted DueSouth.

Oh yeah-- it was so completely and utterly bent. I would've loved to have seen where they would have taken it.
Was the Gravedigger plotline ever resolved?
Was the Gravedigger plotline ever resolved?
No, darn it.
edit: I wonder if we'll see Max again. I like Max Keenan.
