I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

How come every time I actually reember what day Stumptown airs, it isn't on that week?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just saw this because Tim Minear just posted it on Facebook -- Emily Nussbaum (fka emilyn!) is so good. [link]

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

That fight in ep 13 of Stumptown had me holding my breath. While the fight choreography was excellent, I think it was the music that did it. I can't find info on that version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun anywhere!

Tookie and Laura at the police station got me in all the feels. I think Tookie is officially my favorite now

Yeah, Stumptown is the only current show tempting me to re-watch episodes.

Thrive to spite them

I watched the first episode of Almost Paradise, Christian Kane's new TV series. It's on WGN which isn't in every makert but I read it's streaming on Amazon Prime. It's from Dean Devlin and I'm going to assume others from Leverage.

The premise is Kane plays Alex a ex DEA agent who has hypertension and has to keep his stress levels low or he will have gear failure. He wont take meds because of the sexual side effects and can't get his disability pay unless a doctor signs off on his health so he has to wear a monitor thing and have check ups

He is in the Philippines (I think) because he bought, sight unseen, a gift shop and an apartment in a sleepy beach he visited 15 years ago. Only it's a major tourist place now.

And he gets sucked in working with the local police and there are bad guys and he has a sad back story and a nemisis in the DEA.

I wasn't sure I'd like it but I really enjoyed it. I am going to assume since it's from Devlin that he is basing some of the plot lines on things that could actually happen (based on how Leverage was written) and there is competence porn. Alex is really good at what he does. The local police aren't as good as he is BUT they are good and not bumbling. Although it kind of felt a bit white saviour ish a bit but then it leaned into team work more and it's more the dynamic of local police vs veteran DEA agent in terms of skill levels.

The fight scenes are good and there are some nice emotional moments that Kane handled well.

I don't think it's going to be the same level as Leverage but the first episode was solid and it was entertaining.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I watched the first ep and definitely will keep watching. The competence porn that Kane and Devlin bring will always make me give things a chance.

I found myself wishing I could hear the dvd commentary because I really enjoyed watching Devlin talk about how Leverage was written and what was real and possible.

I'm liking Van der Valk on PBS, so far.
