Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

Compassionately intolerant

. Definitely rightie in the law-n-order, police are always right, damn those dirty hippies because they're all crooks anyway sense. Might have some sensitivity toward at least some of the drug addicted, as long as they weren't committing other crimes to support their addictions.

This is so interesting! I wonder when the shift occurred. The shows I know best are the early 50's radio...where the moralizing was strong, but there was always an attempt to understand where the criminal was coming from.

Loved the Mythbusters cameo on CSI tonight!! It was such a goofy ep that seeing those two made perfect sense.

yes, that was fun to see them in the background. I wish they'd gotten some lines, though.

I thought CSI was a little too weird last night. Something about the humor hit me wrong sometimes and it was FAR too jokey jokey in comparison to previous eps of CSI (and I've seen them all).

Anyone have a similar reaction?

I was wincing at Nick and the Mythbusters' going all "Cooooool!!" at the pepper-sprayed dummy being set on fire, since it is a horrific way to die and I flashed back to the guy burning in the beginning of the ep.

Nick struck the right note when he saw Tinfoil Lady on the street--he was genuinely saddened by her death.

No one's watching BONES? Tempy's dad on trial?

I think I've grown to love this show, which I didn't think was possible when it first aired (it seemed to lightweight).

For the record, this is some of the worst Ally McBeal style trial lawyering I've ever seen. Entertaining, yes. Realistic hell no.

am I the only one who is creeped out that the lyrics over Brennan and her father hugging is "don't you wish you could throw your panties back at them?"
