Apparently Freeman and Abbington
broke up shortly before filming. She said it was a bit difficult dealing with all the "new parent" stuff, as it reminded them both of the early days of their relationship, but the break-up is amicable and that she'd work with Martin again.
I am hoping the Watson
flirtation is a plot-driver in the rest of the season, or it was just a waste.
I think
Mary's death and her challenge to Sherlock
will be the plot-driver for the rest of the season. John's
flirtation was so out of character,
I couldn't buy it. I mean, that character is
all about loyalty to the extreme,
right?
Yeah, I thought the
whole flirtation thing was ridiculous. Plus, it was almost the only thing Watson got to do in the whole episode.
The only thing
that actually seemed like John was the balloon head.
Did love the
balloon head.
It's
been there since 9 AM!

My primary objection to Sherlock is that it takes time away from producing Doctor Who. And Moriarty. But mostly the Doctor Who thing.
I'll be more than happy for Moffat to let someone else shoulder the Doctor Who burden and concentrate his showruiningrunning efforts on Sherlock.
Chris Chibnall is of course slated to take over Doctor Who after next season. I'm somewhat nervous about that, he's never actually written a top-notch Doctor Who adventure (pretty much every Moffat effort during the Davies years gets top-rated).
I'm not a huge fan of Steven Moffat's work over the Eleventh Doctor's tenure (taken overall; there were still some nifty highlights), but the Twelfth Doctor seasons have been a revelation.
I've loved Twelve himself, but it was really only toward the second half of last season that I started liking the show under Moffat.
