the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Eleanor is going to be tricky because of the memories aspect.

Do they have to bring in someone who knew Eleanor? Isn't rebooting Chidi and living with that every day enough torture for her? Maybe not every member of Team Dirtbag will get someone who knew them when they were alive.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The new people aren't there to torture our crew, necessarily, they are there to make the experiment more difficult - probably by torturing Team Cockroach, yes, because demons, but maybe in some other way. Blog Guy is a goood foil for Tehani because he brings out her worst traits. In a way, a good foil for Eleanor or Jason might be someone who just encourages them to be their old selves in an otherwise benign fashion.

It would be kind of interesting, for example, to see what a diehard Objectivist would make of the faux Good Place

And here's a thing I just don't think I am remembering right - how much do Janet and Derek remember after being rebooted? I thought Janet didn't have any memories from her previous 800+ incarnations, just emotional leakage, but Derek seems to remember Mindy murdering him over and over again...

Oh, yeah -- Derek helped Janet make all the neighbors for the current experiment; I remember thinking that there *has* to be some blowback from that. Like Derek's "people" aren't quite right and will start glitching. I hope they follow up on that.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I think Janet has all of her memories.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I wouldn't bet on Derek functioning exactly like Janet in any event. Wasn't his creation a completely unprecedented event that shouldn't have been possible?

That's a good point. I actually trust the show to keep track of this stuff, I'm just mildly bothered that I can't remember the details. Oh well. Maybe some rewatching will help with that.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I thought that Gen said that the last two can't be connected, that Shawn can't pull that anymore. Am I mis-remembering?

Also, Chidi and Simone are totally hooking up.

Interestingly, they now have 5 people who don't know what's up, not just 4.

Our wings are not tired.

They've given me a summer project of rewatching the season to detect clues. There were things I didn't pay much attention to that need to be revisited. In general I had been underwhelmed by the season, but feel it will be more interesting with a broader view. Tricky tricksters.

Oh, I think you're right.
