I was over at Shoutfactory.com yesterday and had a mini Marx Brothers-fest. Highlights included an episode of the Jack Benny Show where Jack appears (in disguise) on You Bet Your Life, and two episodes of The Dick Cavett Show with 75+-year-old Groucho as guest. (Bonus -- Truman Capote is also a guest on one of the shows.)
Highly recommended. If there's a level above comic genius, it describes Groucho. Only one of a number of highlights -- Groucho and the sailor on You Bet Your Life. ("You've never kissed a girl? And you call yourself a sailor?")
Nice, Fred! The need for comedy is greater than ever lately. I will check out that site.
Laura, it made me realize what comedy giants were roaming during that era, and how they were taken for granted.
I also recommend Carol Burnett videos on YouTube. There's a great skit with Carol and Robin Williams at a funeral. As for "Went With the Wind," yes, the bit with the curtains is classic, but Dinah Shore comes very close to stealing the scene.
It doesn't matter how many times I have seen some of the classic bits, tears in the eyes every single time. Laughter = best medicine for stress relief. Do it for health!
The cake was *not* a lie!
Well, Chidi is just JACKED. Damn, son.
Also, and I say this as someone who doesn't watch Doctor Who, so I don't have a single leg to stand on but I'm going to say it anyway:
Jeremy Bearimy > wibbly wobbly timey wimey
(I actually loathe the wibbly wobbly saying with the fire of a thousand suns and DAMN does everyone love to quote it. So in conclusion #teamjeremybearimy)
Well, Chidi is just JACKED. Damn, son.
I know there's more to be said, but I literally came over here just to say, DAMN, Chidi!
MY DVR DIDN'T TAPE THE GOOD PLACE.
I can't help but think I'm being punished for something.
