Heh, that Rain clip is hilarious. I did start watching the show, but I fell asleep during a break, and only woke up halfway through that bit, and I was very confused.

Rain's quite the cutie pie, huh? Go, Speed Racer.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

It's slightly painful to wander around LJ and see the hearts of the hardcore Barney/Robin shippers slowly breaking, poor lambs. Lesson 1: TV shows will never, ever do what you want with the characters. Lesson 2: If they violate Lesson 1, you'll end up wishing they hadn't, so, really, just don't even go there with the wishing. It never ends well.

Plus, they're jumping the gun! There's what, 20 years left on this voiceover?

it is. i was really hoping TPTB would see what kind of chemistry NPH and CS had and revel in it. at least for a few episodes. instead it's just a plot device for Ted to "break-up" with Barney. bah.

There's what, 20 years left on this voiceover?

well...yeah, but the kids are in their teens. so there's not a whole lot of time left for them to finally reveal who the mother is.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Even if the oldest kid is 15, there's still a good 6 years of cushion. Why he would have started the story so long before meeting their mother is another question, but that's nothing new. Anyway, Aunt Robin and Uncle Barney could easily be together by then.
