Always Anti-fascist!

Was it "Friends" or "Northern Exposure" had the joke that used "Spiderman" as the example for why just adding "-man" didn't make a Jewish name? Maybe both, cause sometimes I picture Chandler and sometimes Dr. Joel.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Friends had the bit with Phoebe & Chandler: "He's not "Phil Spiderman". He's a Spider - Man." Though I wouldn't be surprised if Northern Exposure did one, I don't remember it off the top of my head - I haven't seen every episode 50 times like I have with Friends.

Maybe they both did. Wouldn't surprise me.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Any other fans of the new Odd Couple? It's a fairly standard NYC sitcom, except words cannot describe the brilliance that is Tom Lennon. He gives the standard version of Felix a modern metrosexual overlay. I suspect with a fair amount of improv.

Yeah, I think it's pretty cute, in kind of a retro way. New Felix kind of reminds me of Niles Crane.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Kind of -- but Lennon brings a physicality to Felix that Niles wouldn't dream of.

I tried to watch a couple of the early eps, but found them painful. Has it found its voice better? I'd be pleased to hear it because it seemed like such a waste of Lennon. And Perry. And Brown for that matter.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I hated the pilot and never watched again.

Yeah, Fred. I could see that, but they could get together and share an opera box or something. Niles is more contained, but they both have big vocabularies and got teased in school and know their way around a kitchen.I wasn't sure about Perry's Oscar, given that the original character is much more of a man's man type, but I think the current Madison's sloppiness comes more from being "paralyzed by not caring very much"-- I think it works. I like it, but I was still shocked it was#10 in the ratings a few weeks ago--maybe people like comfort food? My favorite comedy this year is probably "Younger", though. Rarely has generational humor worked out so well, imo.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

My mom really likes it! I was shocked because I had heard nothing but bad things. She particularly likes Felix.
