Oh, I think this last season has been really strong. I like the way they've used the conceit of the whole season happening in one weekend, but with lots of flashbacks and flashforwards.

Instead of coasting to the finish line, they compressed everything and they fully exploited their central conceit. Writing's been consistently strong this year.
I had lost so much interest in the show when it had it's bad season of no arc, mostly standalone shows. But they bounced back.
