Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Is it wrong that I'm watching sitcoms like they are soap operas?

The line is blurring. Largely because sitcoms now have running storylines that have nothing to do with the necessity of cast changes. (I date the trend from Rosanne.)

Punishingly Intricate

When Michelle dropped the slang and explained the reversion phenomenon after telling them about going for her psych degree, I about died.

It was predictable but no less hilarious for that. As was the Lily & Marshall being the parents to teenaged Robin. Also knew it was coming but laughed like a drain anyway.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

As was the Lily & Marshall being the parents to teenaged Robin.

Jason Segal really sold the "Not now, Ted!" line.

Frail my heart apart and play me a little Shady Grove

As was the Lily & Marshall being the parents to teenaged Robin.

"...a billion years ago!" was delivered perfectly.

Jason Segal really sold the "Not now, Ted!" line.

Yep. And, oh my, NPH sold the kiss at the end.

Hopefully this will be all laser-tags and cigars, instead of ending in tears and recriminations.

Love this.

Late coast: AIIIIYIII!!! Robin and BARNEY?? Loved the Robin Sparkles. I have to go look up who was the slacker ex-boyfriend. I think he might have been one of the guys from Dawson's Creek, but I've never seen an ep of it, so off to check.

Side note en route: the writer was Kourtney Kang, Born in Hawaii. [2000] Carnegie Mellon University's School Of Drama, MFA in Playwrighting.

Robin Sparkles has a MySpace page. Of course! [link]

Another side note: The producers don’t plan on stopping with Robin Sparkles, “We’d like to get to the point,” Bays said, “where people will know that if they hear in the narration, ‘but I can’t tell you that part of the story,’ then they’ll know they should go looking for it online.” - from search engine journal.

Okay, the actor is Michael Kagan and he was also in the episode Return of the Shirt, where Ted breaks up with Natalie by leaving a message on her ans. machine, and Robin says crazy stuff on air that Barney dared her to say.
