I think the roomates are the funniest thing about the show but Jess and Cece had some great moments, too.
I don't like the roommates at all (except in the first episode where they showed up at the restaurant), but I love Jess and CeCe.

It's like I don't even know you, sj!
Whereas like another poster on TwoP I regard Zooey Deschanel as the necessary evil I have to suffer in order to watch the kind of enjoyable show built around her.
Now I'm tempted to check it out again, but I rilly rilly don't like Zooey. And I already have Pierce in my life. Well, it's slow TV right now. I don't have to watch.
New Girl has made me literally laugh out loud on at least a couple of occasions, which kind of shocked me. I feel like I should give credit to it for letting me know I might be ready to dive into Community, to get more confessional about my comedy watching decisions than anyone really needs me to be.
I like Jess way more than Zooey, fwtw.
New Girl won me over in the first episode. Doesn't hurt that one of my grad school chums (and fantastic writer) is a producer, so i felt obligated to watch it. Nice to enjoy that! The 'douche jar' made me laugh. So have many other things since then, it's a lovely ensemble.
And thanks for the Community/Firefly link! I had seen that, just lost the memory among all the other awesomness.
I only made it as far as the credits. It's not for me.
possibly my favorite exchange in the eps we've seen of New Girl was this convo between Nick and Schmidt.
Nick: I was sixteen! I have gotten a lot better!
Schmidt: You haven't gotten that much better. I used to listen to you and Caroline all the time when we were in college. It was like listening to a rescue crew trying to communicate with a stranded miner. "Are you ok? Yeah. Are you ok? Yeah."
I'm utterly in love with Suburgatory. Naked Allen Tudyk totally didn't hurt.
Even clothed, Allen Tudyk is a reason to watch.
