So, I think the reason I haven't typically watched many sitcoms is that....I don't really like sitcoms. Weird! I'm watching Up All Night, and I can tell it's good and funny, but I just don't care. But I do think all parents should watch it and laugh.

Jesse,
I stopped watching sitcoms in the early 1990s. My main problem with most of them then was that the humor beats were too predictable (see "Two and a Half Men" for a today's example). It was so boring predicting all the laugh beats and the jokes. "Seinfeld", while generally a funny show, fell into this trap in the later seasons.
"Parks and Recreation", "Community" almost never fall into this trap for me. Even in episodes that don't really work, I don't find the humor all that predictable. A lot of what I find funny nowadays are things that take me by surprise ("Louie" at his high points).
Earth 2
I'm probably the only one who either watched, or assumed the reference was to, you know, Earth 2.
What? It had Clancy Brown and Tim Curry. How could I pass that up?

Yeah, I like Parks & Rec and Louie and Archer, can't get into Community, but I guess the "standard" sitcoms, no matter how good, just aren't for me.
I realize this is a pretty stupid thing to post about, but it was surprising to me! I thought I was just out of the habit.
I watch "Frasier" in reruns. (Not so much for Frasier himself, but for the ensemble, and for Niles. I adore Niles.) But on the whole sitcoms leave me cold. So you're not alone.

Not the only one.
Phew.
I used to love sitcoms. I watched them all -- Cosby, Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld, etc.
And then I just stopped, even though I still love reruns of Friends (it's a happy place). But Community got me back into sitcoms, and now I'm watching Big Bang and 30 Rock in reruns, and Raising Hope and New Girl in real time.
Amy, if you haven't tried Parks and Recreation, you should give it a try. It took me several eps to fall in love with it, but now it's far and away my favorite show on the air (and I'm normally not a comedy person)!
