I do use "ridiculous" a lot anyway, so I've tried using it more when it fits. I've found that "super" also works, but "super busy" doesn't really convey the same hecticness that "crazy busy" does. And I can't really find a good substitute in phrases like "I told you that I'm crazy for these cupcakes, cousin."
I think the popular usage of "crazy" and its ilk carries connotations that synonyms like "ridiculous" and "absurd" don't. And I really can't fault people for using the word as it is defined in the dictionary. Of course, I understand that some of those connotations are negative for a certain portion of the population.
Is it bad when something on Better Off Ted exactly reflects something that's going on in my workplace?
Oh my God, the
Community
clip show. Oh my God. Amazing.
And I am all caught up with Community. I'm so glad I get MORE!
I am having such a hard time convincing people IRL to watch Community. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm usually much better at pitching stuff like this.
I even showed the paintball ep to my sister--she liked it, but has no urge to watch the rest. What's wrong with her?
I think when the show is good, it's very very good, but when it's bad, it's boring. And Chevy Chase creeps me out a little. I'll probably give it another chance sooner or later.
I gave the first season to my brother for his birhtday, when we got to his house last week, the first thing he said is "THIS is what I miss about not living in the US". Apparently, he made his friends watch it too. Then I had to rub it in more by just telling him things like "just wait... they do a clip show of all new clips and an stop-motion Christmas ep" I think he hates me just a little bit now. He made me promise to give him Season 2 for Christmas.
