Oh! My friend torturing me with the song this morning reminded me: When they opened the prom with "Friday," I really thought it was going to be a terrible-songs theme, especially after Sue's mandate. Then I wasn't so sure when they did "Jar of Hearts" next.....

Right there with you.
Jar of Hearts did nothing to dispel the terrible song theme as far as I was concerned.
I spent a minute trying to decide if they would actually go there like that, given that it's a commercially successful current song, good or not. ("You're gonna catch a cold/from the ice inside your soul"??? Seriously???)
For the few Outsourced fans here, I have a write-up of a Stanford event with Rizwan Manji and Aneesh Sheth.
Friday is the first Glee song I've ever skipped past.
Laga, I wish I'd known it was coming. It earworms me for days and it is irritating.
I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't had Friday in my head since the first time I heard it. It's the monotonal 'fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun' that gets me. I was ripping on it yesterday and then 'Mother' by Pink Floyd came on the radio and I realized there's one note repeated that the whole song kind of hinges on and I started wondering why in the one song it's crap and in the other song it's genius. Maybe that's a question for Buffista Music but I think I'm happier when I can treat Friday like I try to treat the WBC. Ignore it.
Interesting. I totally get it though. For me with Friday it's the the stupid bouncy-ness and "Friday, Friday blah, blah, blah, blah Friday..." on endless repeat in mye head and I just now realized that I get earwormed with Forget You the same way but it doesn't annoy me.
I was just grateful they served up "Dancing Queen" as a palate cleanser at the end, since it's able to overpower almost any earworm and replace the previous song with itself.
