I like Gwyneth Paltrow, too. I think she's got talent, even if motherhood or whatever has made her a little woo woo.

I thought she did really well tonight, too. The last number was fantastic. And my "Forget You" loves continues unabated.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. I also absolutely adore Singing in the Rain, and I loved Will and Mike's dream sequence Make Em Laugh, and then despite reservations about it, I really liked the Umbrella mashup at the end. The choreography and staging was really stunning.

Shakespeare In Love is one of my favorite movies too. I guess I don't know enough about Gwyneth Paltrow to have an opinion on her in terms of her real life personality, but I quite enjoyed her performance.

I also love Becky as Sue's minion.

Becky as Sue's minion is genius. Her "I'm watching you." gesture to Mercedes during the tot rebellion had me on the floor. Sue also got some great Shue zingers in tonight. Selling his hair to make a coat for premature babies? On the floor again.

I am kind of Gwinnie neutral. I just kind of don't get what all the fuss is about. However, I thought she acquited herself quite well tonight. She worked the Cee-Lo out and I liked the Singing in the Rain/Umbrella mash up. I didn't care for Make 'em Laugh, but that's maybe just because I'm all the way over Shue. Although I will give him props for pulling off the back flip. Rachel and Gwyneth's Nowadays was just kind of "Eh, whatever."

I can't even with the Terri stuff because just . . . no. The whole baby thing explains a lot. Luckily it was balanced out by baby Glee kids. So cute! Afro Puff Mercedes.

That really was funny. She sold it.

I thought Gwyneth was good. Not a Mary Sue since her character was presented as being unable to discipline the kids and too eager to please them.

The whole thing about Will's sex life with Teri was kind of bizarre, which normally I'd be down with. I'm fine if he's a bottom who likes a little anal stimulation with age regression. But on top of all his other messed-up-ness it doesn't play as well.

And once again they had a scene where all the kids pay tribute to him. Ick. It's kind of a dysfunctional relationship at this point.

Oh well. I want a compilation of all of Sue's hair insults.

I haven't really been watching Raising Hope but both episodes they played tonight were really funny.

Excellent comic use of the sex offender watch list and Jenga.

Further, HIMYM has definitely gotten back on track. I was ready to ditch it after last season but I'm enjoying the show again this year. It's funny and the characters are engaging and their arcs are interesting.

Here's an apt critique from AV Club of the way Glee's been handling Will's character:

Most of the other characters have settled into a groove where we more or less know how they'll react to things, but Will continues to be all over the map. Are we supposed to think he's a guy trying to do the right thing and constantly failing? Are we supposed to have darker feelings about him? Or are we supposed to see him as a number one teacher and a saint? He's whatever the show needs him to be, week to week, and that's one of the biggest things hurting the series this season. (That said, I liked the way the show made fun of his lame tastes in music this week and by extension, made fun of itself.)

I like Gwyneth Paltrow - Scrappy - Shakespeare in Love and Sliding Doors are two of my favorites too! I thought that she did a good job and agree that Becky as Sue's minion is gold.

I enjoyed "Make Them Laugh"; disliked the Rachel/Gwyneth number and wasn't that into the big finale Singing in the Rain thing.

Sliding Doors is in my top three favorite movies bucket. I like GP in Emma as well.

I am increasingly dismayed with Glee, but have to confess that I have watched "Forget You" entirely too many times. I went out and got the Cee Lo original as well. That's about the bounciest, bitter diatribe I've ever heard.

I had to pull up the original "Make Them Laugh" to watch right after the episode. Ahhhh, much better. Think I'm going to need to do a full Singing in the Rain rewatch today.

Yeah, "Make 'Em Laugh" was just copying the singing and dancing of the original almost exactly, but the original was better. Didn't add anything, just subtracted. I'd never realized how much of what makes the original great is Donald O'Connor's facial expressions, but it really is, and neither of those guys could get even close.
