Oh God-our heavenly Father. Oh, God-and my father Who is also in heaven.
OK, maybe it was just that part that struck me. I was so thrown off! Do Jews say "Our heavenly Father"?

ha! is the "heaven" part throwing you off?
Do Jews say "Our heavenly Father"?
I can't think of that exact phrasing in English too often, but "our Father" is in a lot of prayers, and "tate in himmel," which means "father in heaven," is used in Yiddish.
Notice that I am trying really hard not to focus on the enormous pile of crap the rest of this show (Sue MF Sylvester aside) is trying to shovel at me.

I actually think it's because I hear my Southern Baptist grandfather's voice, not even any of the other Christians I hang out with! Most folks I know don't say Father...
Hil, thanks for that. I was kind of stuck on that too.
I thought it started, "life is a mystery..." I can't find a music video version that starts with "Oh heavenly father"- maybe on the album?
Isn't that Madonna's "Like a Prayer"?
Isn't that Madonna's "Like a Prayer"?
ayup, it sure is. I'm not sure how I misread that. Did my brain go from, "Papa Can You Hear Me?" to "Papa Don't Preach" to "Like a Prayer"? Perhaps I need a little lie down. (needless to say the episode hasn't aired yet out here)
I'm eh on the episode, but Lea Michelle sang that song beautifully.
Oh, Glee, apparently I can't quite quit you. I thought Chris Colfer's performance was amazing, and they actually handled all the religion stuff with a lot more nuance than I expected, so kudos to them. Some of the stuff Sue said about her sister made me cringe a bit, but eh.
