Scrappy, without knowing all the details, I see other differences, too. Finn had to do the moving, and he had to adjust to a new stepbrother on top of it.
The ages of the kids may also be a factor. When you're 3 or 4, your life happens much more at the whim of your parents than when you're (like Finn) in high school.
