I remember watching the pilot of Hill Street Blues when it was first broadcast, and having a major WTF?!? moment when the show ended with Bobby and Andy being shot.

wrod...on the commentaries somebody said that they did it thinking they wouldn't be coming back.(one of them was supposed to die.) Also, on another one of those commentaries, I learned that some of those actors hated the actor that played Captain Freedom because he never took the suit off or allowed them to call him his name...Weitz took it in stride, though.

All Buffistas need to see at least that much Hill Street, okay?

Vic Hitler, the narcoleptic comic. I remember Hill Street.

Damn, has that started coming out on DVD yet? Can't imagine what a complete series set would cost for that, or when I'd get the time to watch it again.

actor that played Captain Freedom

Dennis Dugan, right? IIRC, he starred in a very briefly lived spinoff of Rockford Files.

Yeah...he was good there, too.Wacko(or Method) or both, apparently, though. "Vic Hitler...you ever think of changing your name?"
"No, why?"

(Sigh) "No reason." La Rue was FX before its time, wasn't he? I think I watched up to Season 3 on DVD(and wrote this big gushy essay for The Hat, too) but my queue is so long, I haven't checked to see if more are out.

OMG - you have no idea what's coming, do you? If you've only seen thru season 3, OMG. No, SERIOUSLY.

Or did you watch it back in the day, and the reviews were on what was available?

Oh, yeah, I watched it all in syndication once when I was, like sixteen, but there's a lot of stuff I haven't seen since.(I still remember that Franz punched the jerk chief in the nose in the finale and it still makes me happy to think of it,but there's a lot I probably don't remember.) I loved the Smirking Black Criminal that Belker was always arresting that gave the funny names every time (i.e. Marcel Marceau and Jean-Claude Killy) And Belker's end of his mom's calls.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I have been watching "Coupling" season 2 and man I have been helpless with laughter today. That gets me in my funny bone even though I saw the series before. Jeff's birthday episode just made me lose it.
