'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Rather regained a bunch of karma points for that standup, by me.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I know why she wasn't the mother in the previous season, but did completely close her out as a possibility?

Nah, I don't think so. I'd rather Stella wasn't the mother, but they did plant that idea. (She mentioned being at the St Patrick's Day thing at one point.)

Loved the charts, and the adorable ending. I could *so* be a Barney/Robin 'shipper. I don't care if that's wrong and I'm going to need a patch for it soon.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

I think Barney's about to be a Barney/Robin 'shipper...

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I love the Barney/Robin thing. Of course, I just love Barney.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I like Barney best when we see layers of goodness beneath the skeeve, or when someone is calling him on his skeeviness, which means I loved him to bits in this episode.

Apparently (so says someone on Alan Sepinwall's blog) someone on Zazzle has made a t-shirt of the dirty presidential names list; I'm so sad that nobody has done the Cecilia Venn diagram yet.

It's a little weird how many people on that blog are getting all grumpy about yet another Your Mother fakeout, and how they're being "strung along" by the show. Not that I don't want to know myself, but it's so clearly not what the show is about (despite being the show title) and I've been peacefully Zen about the eventual appearance of YM and all the fakeouts and takebacks for so long that it hasn't even occurred to me for, like, at least a year that anyone could feel otherwise.

They're just all so wrought up about it!

Punishingly Intricate

I'm so sad that nobody has done the Cecilia Venn diagram yet.

That would be awesome! Cecilia was my favorite song when I was 3. I made up a dance to it, according to my mom.

I bet you were adorable!

Cecilia would definitely have been on my list of possible names for Matilda, except I still struggle a bit with my "s" sounds, and any name that either started with S or had two s's was right out.

And about the t-shirts, someone should definitely do a two-sided one of the pie-bar and bar-pie charts, one on the front and one on the back.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

The charts were great!

And I love the ongoing things like the intervention.

And I am JZ regarding Barney & the skeeve.

The Your Mother fakeouts are, like, the whole point! I mean, if I were the (rapidly aging) kids, I would be cranky about being told this whole story instead of how dad met mom, but from the viewer perspective I can't see being upset about it. Won't the show be over once we find out? Okay, probably not, but it would be a sea change.

Heh. Yeah, you're right. It's fun to speculate aimlessly though.

He's adorable. It's cuter 'cause you have to work to get to it.

ROBIN+BARNEY4EVUH. Etc.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yes! That is so needed I can't even stand it.
