Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
CASH! You're gonna have to be a Packers fan now! Whoot!
Janesville was always a stop on the way home - my only memory of that place is huge truck stops.
I remember Janesville as having that creepy house with the dressmaker's dummy in the window.
juliana, I couldn't do that to the Colts! (Born a Hoosier, you know!) I think Packers fans form in the womb, anyway.
Happy Annivesary, Tom & Nora!!!
Today has been a day of list making. This weekend is pretty much a cleaning out the trash, posting stuff on Craigslist and Freecycle.
Sci Fi Wire article on that thing that ND is (was?) working on: [link]
Universal Studios creative director John Murdy told SCI FI Wire that it wasn't easy to bring three horror-movie icons to life for the Los Angeles theme park's Halloween Horror Nights event, which runs every weekend through Halloween.
The promotion brings together the characters of Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, Jason from the Friday the 13th films and Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series.
"No, it's not a prelude to a big movie event with the three of them," Murdy said. "I've read the same rumors you have. But there is a reason for Freddy vs. Jason being such a great box-office hit. They're icons, all of them."
Murdy said the creative team at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., actually came up with the idea, but executives at New Line, which owns all three properties, were hesitant at first.
"They were very skeptical and reticent, because they have such a rabid fan base," Murdy said. "They said they have people coming up to them with ideas like Freddy the roller coaster ride and Freddy the musical, so why is this any different? We said, 'Because we have been bringing movie monsters to the masses since 1925. We're going to do this on the same backlot where Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein and Dracula were filmed.' I think that was [the] clincher. They knew we would treat their properties with the utmost respect."
More at the link. No mention of the involvement of a certain kilted sound designer....
No mention of the involvement of a certain kilted sound designer....No mention but, yes, his hot little hands are all over the project. I've been listening to Jason chopping people in half and Freddy jumping out of corpses for a month. Don't even ask how many chainsaw sounds I've heard in that time.
is (was?)In theory, was. In practice, is.
This morning I drove the DH to the teeny art deco Bob Hope airport here in Burbank, and he flew off for a meeting over lunch in Las Vegas at a fancy hotel. He flies back in time for dinner tonight. There sure are some nice perqs when working for The Man.
Grrr. Was just informed that I have to develop and administer a final exam a week early in December because one of my students is going on a safari to Africa. We have never had to adjust our teaching schedules for student vacation before, and I'm extremely annoyed that we're being asked to do so this time.
Hey, Lee, juliana, and katefate (if you ever look in here): I got the magnet yesterday. THANK YOU!!!!
Seriously, I *love* it. Love love love. You guys rule.
juliana, I couldn't do that to the Colts! (Born a Hoosier, you know!)
You can split your loyalty - at least they aren't in the same division. (AFC South vs. NFC North.) Plus, it's infectious. Packers rule! (Seriously, if you can score tickets to Lambeau, go. For me.)
I got the magnet yesterday. THANK YOU!!!!
SWEET! Lee, you should put the image up so everyone can see it!
