I knew things were going to be, um, difficult with my ex when he told his parents we were engaged and their first response was "Oh. Is that a Jewish name?" I spent a lot of time and tears over the years of my marriage trying to get them to like me and they never did.
With Jason, I decided they could take me or leave me. I would be polite, as I am to any othe person, but I was not going to work to please them. Turns out they love me--go figure.

People, all I ask is that you learn to use styles and then use them consistently! And the automatic numbering is bullshit. I avoid it when at all possible. I just create a style that has the formatting I like (hanging indent, the right leading etc.) and then number things manually. Saves so much aggravation and, ultimately, time.
