Mal: You tell me right now, little Kaylee, you really think you can do this? Kaylee: Sure. Yeah. I think so. 'Sides, if I mess up, not like you'll be able to yell at me.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Happy birthday, wee Matilda!

My mother came and stayed with me for a week because of my migraines, and it was one of the larger quantum steps our relationship has ever taken. I'm startled.

It might be too soon for you, PC, but don't give up in total.

Of course, I had my narcotically-loosened tongue (I get a bit...oh...chatty) as part of it, but still. There was a point where I just said "I'm the one that feels like crap, and you said you're here to make me feel better--also, my friend says he'll beat you up if you stress me out."

I did say both those things, I just spaced them out a little better. Now I find I'm not hiding things from her for her own good so much anymore, although I still do phrase it all differently for her. I understand she feels terribly ineffectual, and me being old enough to have adult kids of my own doesn't lessen her conviction that she should be able to make this all go away.

She's just not mad at/acting out towards me because of it, which is what I think I'd feared. I should give her more credit.

Congrats on the good grade too, folks!

move out and draw fire

Hate the DMV. Don't hate the nice DMV worker who helped me (and who I have to return to today), but hate the DMV in general.

I just wanted to hate on the DMV a little more. They still have my Passat listed in Athens. Despite me spending 45 minutes at the counter (not counting wait time) to register it here. They have my address right, but they didn't change hte car's address, and thus mailed my stickers to Athens.

And their website is no help, and their customer service number is totally borked.

I can totally see feeling that way.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That's interesting, ita. Thanks for that perspective.

hmmm I wonder if Pete is playing Halo 3?

Oh yes. I finished the Campaign and now I'm upping the difficulty level and going back around again.

Eep! I just made an appt for GF and I to talk to a designer about starting a bathroom remodel! I'm both excited and terrified at the prospect.

Good god, Raq. It's a sad sad day when the DC DMV is the one getting praise, I tell ya. I went there after Vortex did, and whipped through the drive-through lane in ten minutes (though the walk up lane was much longer, the drive through is only for renewals). It was awesome.

AND the Apple Store fixed my computer (by giving my laptop a whole new keyboard!) in just a couple hours! YAY, go them.

Congratulations sj!!!
