Yarrr! I got out of class early. We have a test next week which I haven't study for, but there is an extra credit portion , find a health related article (but not from Fox News) and write a one page summary. Plus at the beginning of class she had us sign in and write what our paper will be on, this after the break she actually gave us credit for it and about 5 people had skipped class.
In some ways I like her (anti Fox news) but she was very adamant that people without children should not have to pay for schools and it's unfair that she has to pay for it. This is after she said that she was worried that about half the class didn't watch/read the news on a regular basis because they'll be lawyers and social workers in the future. I thought that was contradictory but she didn't.
But I have a study partner so that's good.
I'm with Susan, I can't stand to be without a book, I take something to read every day (or I grab a paper) and I went to the school library and found something for this week. Plus I usually keep something in the car in case I end up someplace with a wait I can grab it and read.
Soundsterbation!
Is this made by Winnebago?

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ to infinity.

If it makes you feel better, you were right, and she was wrong. Here, have a gold star.
Hec- excellent news about the book!
My whole body hurts from fencing + cramps. Fencing was fun at least. We just kinda had at it. I'm not very good but I sparred with a few different folks on different levels and it was fun. Even though I had to stop every few minutes to take off that goddamn helmet and gasp for breath and run for water. I haz no stamina.
I resent having to pay for kids other people couldn't afford to have in the first place.
But then, I'm mostly libertarian so I feel there are a lot of things I shouldn't have to pay for.
But... education! Benefits us all! And public education doesn't have anything to do with people not being able to afford having children in the first place, right?
Also, that way lies madness. If I don't use the roads/public transit/libraries, should I pay for them?
For me, the benefits of a public education did not outweigh the drawbacks. I know I am a very radical thinker. I think mankind would do better if children were integrated into life instead of being kept in a school.
I once knew a very smart conservative libertarian who made two exceptions to his general position out of self interest - health care and education. His reasoning: ignorance and disease are both infectious.
