There's a new place in the Mission called Frites that just does that kind of Belgian food. Frites, of course, and Mussells and crepes and stuff.
I wonder if they have Leffe on tap. My boyfriend and I just found a pub on Saturday here in London that actually has Leffe. It's so delightful I nearly hopped over the bar and gunned the nozzle down my throat. But then I thought of Juliana and Daisy and how they'd have my hide for such bad bar decorum.
GRONK!
Okay, no playing with the telescope tonight. Just sleep. 'Cuz
GRONK!
Another fun thing about having a telescope and letting random passersby use it? The dumb ass, random, poorly informed stuff people say.
I had a guy (maybe twenty years old, beefy and kinda dumb looking) ask me how the eclipse would effect the tides.
It's a shadow. It wouldn't effect them at all. I wanted to say.
Mostly, when people ask me seriously dumb questions, or say really bizarre, poorly educated stuff, I just said something to the effect of "huh, I don't know..."
In just the last two days, I've heard the most amazing misinterpretations of orbital mechanics. It's really kind of fun.
Also, looking through the telescope at the Earth's shadow passing across the moon?
I think my hair is still standing on end.

Come to NYC and I'll take you to the Belgian Beer Bar. Leffe (among many many others) on tap and big paper cones filled with delicious frites. And various mayo-based dipping sauces for said frites.
[eta: Huh - I've never heard it called anything but The Belgian Beer Bar, but apparently its real name is Vol de Nuit.]
Just spent last hour on the phone with my sister, debating about what I should do.
Ended up NOT using my FF miles, as they wanted me to come back at 7:25 am and I didn't want to do that. Instead, I'm building miles on Delta and flying Air France. It's a lot more money than I wanted to, but I'll be a happier camper. I also won't have as much layover time as some of the other options. (Only 2.5 hours going and 1.5 hours coming back.)
~ma reqested for GF's father. He was put into the hospital last night with an infection, which is not good if you are a cancer patient. He is scared shitless that he's never coming out, but we think (hope, pray) that isn't going to be the case. Anyway, please send any good vibes you can spare LA-ward.
