Handsome brooding vampire guy has to swoop in all sensitive mouth and overhanging forehead. How 'bout leaving some scraps for the homely-looking fellows who don't turn evil when they get some?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

In a broader sense, can we say that cheaper, more automated manufacturing over the last couple of decades has made the Happy Meal possible? Very effective for the nabbing of the loyalty of kids all across the country, if not of the entire world.

Or does cheap foreign labor get the credit for that?

Hah! Ok, some good answers. I used the fact that WiFi is offered in some chains can be marketed to draw in more people, who will spend more time and money.

Whatever. I HATE McDonald's personally - so researching this stuff is....odd.

Did you know McDonald's maintains a Corporate Responsibility Blog?

I didn't.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

OK. I squeezed out three pages, which is the minimum daily quota I've set for myself. I got my characters into a smugglers' tunnel, pursued by men with guns. Tomorrow I'll figure out how to get them out of there alive. It's a shitty first draft, but that's allowed. And I'm only 21 pages from my summer goal of reaching p. 100 of my WIP, which I'd thought was hopeless after deciding I needed to start over again last month.

I feel better now. Refusing to believe in writer's block has its advantages.

You are an inspiration to me, Susan. I'm about a third of a way through an essay that has been in three different forms and will. not. resolve. itself. It's making me crazy. Usually I can whip out a draft of an essay (2000-3000 words-ish) in a day. This week? Argh, nsm.

Andi, that picture of Harvey is adorable. Speaking of adorable cats, Byron has found a random throw pillow sitting on the corner of a shelf in Drew's office and has curled himself into a tiny ball to fit on it. Too damned cute.

Oh, and btw...WE ADOPTED A KITTEN! Went to the Humane Society a few days ago, and they *do* think that we are good pet parents. As soon as our little boy is neutered tomorrow or Monday, we're picking him up. I'd been set on getting a female since Byron is so territorial, but the Humane Society lady talked me into a young male (he's three months old and solid black). She claims that since he's so young and already neutered, Byron will treat him like an annoying younger brother rather than a threat to his territory. She also said that Mia would have serious issues with another female. We shall see.

Anyway, he's cute as a button and soon to be living the good life at our house. Pictures will follow.

Yay! Kitten!!! Does he have a name yet? PICTURES!!!

Paper is done. I don't know how you writer types do it. I struggle to do 50 words let alone anything more substantial.

Yay paper done!

He does not have a name yet. We want to get to know him a bit and see what name seems appropriate. There will be pictures as soon as there is kitten. He had the sniffles, poor little guy, so they might not be able to do the surgery tomorrow morning. If they do, though, he'll be coming home with us tomorrow afternoon. We stopped at Petco today and spent a small fortune on kitten supplies, including a wee scratching post, soft cushy bed, and his very own litter box. He has to be isolated from the other two kitties for at least 10 days, so we've set up the extra bedroom and bathroom as Kitten Zone.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Congrats on the new kitten. Pictures when you have achieved kitten?
