I really do not like Southwest. It really is the cattle herd boarding that does it for me. I like my assigned seating. Hell I go to movie theatres that have assigned seats.

That's one of the things I like best about Southwest. As long as I'm either traveling with Annabel or I make sure I check in early enough, I don't have to worry about being in the back row with someone reclined into my lap but no power to recline myself, and I can guarantee myself an aisle seat when I'm traveling alone.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

A number of people wrote in to complain about its insensitivity re terrorists.

Well, terrorists are insensitive to me, so fuck 'em.

For me, because I am usually traveling alone, it's the boarding that does it on Southwest. Sure, if I print a pass from home, I can usually get A, but I feel like other airlines, I can get there, check the flight, and then go buy some food or a book or whatever...Southwest, i have to line up and can't go to teh bathroom unless someone agrees to hold my place in line!

That and the fact that you can't easily hop on an earlier flight. Not that other airlines aren't making that harder too, but...

I guess I like the Southwest system because it gives me more control. I feel less at their mercy. And somehow flying with them seems less like a visit to an inner ring of hell than my recent experiences with American and Delta in particular.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

SA, awesome hair & faboo hat!

Kristin, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Sorry about the delay, ND! That sucks.

Soz, I'm glad you're okay, but still! Freaky.

BUT DUDE! If you were on Southwest you could seat yourself AWAY from the screaming child!

With you on that one totally. Still like JetBlue myself. Poor ND. If it were my kid I would have given them the tranq dart for you. And barfing in line. Oh my. I think TPTB should provide a private charter flight for ND.

And, if you were on Southwest, the plane would probably have taken off on time!

Personally, I've never had a problem getting a seat I want (window, baby!) on Southwest.

Signed,

Southwest Booster!

not your mom's socks.

Sox; yeah Comcast peeps turn up in our street all the damn time.

I think they're looking for unauthorized clip-ins, imho. Service disruption - seriously? (sorry to those with family in the biz, but:) How often can you get Comcast out on a first call, much less 'just making sure everything's ok'....

Pete - Usually I'm fine about things like this - but I'm also used to living & working really close to a lot of neighbors who also work from home, and/or own restaurants & shops that I can go to if I'm feeling vulnerable, or have watched too much Law & Order... as well as a lot of other neighbors that will spork the stuffing out of anyone that bothers someone they know. It's nice to be in a neighborhood where other people are around during the day too. I think there are here - and there are certainly restaurants & shops - but I don't know them yet. I can see their (some of) routers, though.

Thanks Julianna & Sparky!

ND - best of luck on the flight. This sounds like it is rapidly approaching epic.
