Mmm. Chocolate truffles.

Fan Fiction and Fan Communities in the Age of the Internet : New Essays by Karen Hellekson

I need to remember to buy this. Someone poke me in a week or two?

I am back on the diet wagon.

I want chocolate truffles instead.

Hmph.

Paris Hilton lost her inheritance.

Wow. There is a god.

Guess I owe somebody an apology.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Paris Hilton lost her inheritance.

Oh my.

I feel so bad for her. What will she do now? Will she actually be forced to become a contributing member of society and get a job?

My family and I were just talking about this last night--my brother said he had heard a joke "the best justification for an inheiritance tax? Paris Hilton"

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Although, that's just the money from her grandfather. Her father still stands to inherit a whole lot, and she'll inherit from him, probably.

The person that I actually feel sorry for is her sister Nicky. She is doing her thing, has a job, staying out of the limelight (and jail). She is actually a productive member of society, and she's being punished because her sister is an idiot.

Plus all that money that was going to go to Paris? Will now go to charity.

What a waste.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

From reading a long time ago, most of Paris's current wealth is from her own shenanigans, since she hasn't had full access to the pots of money she had stood to inherit.

So this means she'll have to be all up in our faces more to compensate for that loss.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Ayup. She's slapping her name on everything from hair extensions to stuffed Tinkerbell chihuahuas. Plus, she gets paid for showing up to clubs--sometimes to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. Which really raises the bile in my throat.

Yep.

I remember a lot of people complaining that the media pays way too much attention to her. But when Larry King interviewed her, it was by far his highest rated show. So people are interested in her.

OTOH, maybe people pay attention to her in the way you can't look away from a car wreck....
