Hil, much health~ma to your mom. Here's hoping her hospital stay is a short one.
Happy Birthday Lyra Jane!
If all else fails on the wifebeater front, maybe there's a Sears nearby?
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Happy Birthday, Lyra Jane!
Same with TJ Maxx, Loehmanns, Filene's, etc.
I think I knew that about Filene's but not the rest. Are they of specific department stores? I mean, I guess Nordstrom Rack's provenance is pretty self-explanatory, and isn't Filene's something easy like that too?

There'll be one. Just trying to avoid the "No you're fucking kidding" feeling I got when I tried to buy some at Macy's. The minute I noted that Men's was on the third floor I just went home. Some of the little things feel like ridiculously much work.
At least you can daydream, right? I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the hotness, even if it is pre-tea.
I've had tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. I am so primed right now. One frozen grape and I'll go off the bliss edge right into ripe Clive-appreciation territory.
Oh, I missed birthdays! Happy belateds, Nilly and flea!
Also, Happy Birthday to Lyra Jane!
I dream of a Vin Diesel con interview, wherein he reveals that instead of being there to promote a movie he was attending to put his dwarf character into RPGA tournament play.
I've been thinking about the physics of motion, and people's intuition about same. I'm gonna ask a few questions, and I'm interested in what people's intuition is on these questions. If you know the answers, hold off on posting for a bit, please. For all the questions, ignore issues of friction, aerodynamic drag, engine efficiency at different speeds, etc.
1) You are driving a car, and you accelerate from 0 to 25 mph. Say the amount of energy required is x. Now you continue to accelerate from 25 mph to 50 mph. What is the total amount of energy you used to accelerate from 0 to 50 mph?
2) You drop a heavy object from a height of 10 feet, and when it hits the ground it has a velocity of y. What would be the velocity if you drop it from 20 feet? From 40 feet?
Ha! You can respect the right to free speech, but you don't have to respect the content. I am a fan of that sort of inanity in the face of shudder-inducing hate.
Oh, ita! This made me tear up in a good way this morning! Thank you!
I don't have sound at work, so is there something depressing about the narcoleptic puppy? Maybe I don't want to know. Anyway, if any puppy were going to be narcoleptic it would be a dachshund. Mine falls asleep in mid-lick.
An' that's all I got this morning.
My intuitive guesses:
1. 2x
2. y
Disclaimer: have not taken physics since I was 14. Very vague memories plus common sense (which may be not that common nor that sensible) are at work.
1) Um, x + x?
2) Still y?
These are very intuitiony answers.

Both narcoleptic puppies fall asleep when they get excited. The second one does it much more often. He gets excited when eating, so the only way he can actually eat a meal is if his owners hold him and constantly stroke him to keep him calm.
