Oh yeah, that's even worse. Mine, all I could say was, "I was pretty sure from looking back that that's what I was supposed to do..."
Natter 53: We could just avoid making tortured puns
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
They both suck.
Timelies all!
Am back from Seattle. Saw many sights. Had fun. Very tired now, and have lost pronouns...again.
There will be no dissing of the Dragon*Con!
Damn straight. I've been twice, loved it. Last year I timed my visit to the US so I could go. Geekdom, IMO, is all about one's enthusiasm for one's interests, and DragonCon gets that. I love that you get so many different fandoms gracing the place. Trekkies, Star Wars, D&D (that's what draws me, of course), military period costumes, there were some great Dr Who outfits last year, superheroes, and all the rest of them. The most disturbing outfit I saw last year was a guy dressed up as Gene Simmons, and that's just excellent. Gene Simmons! Hell, I wouldn't regard it as out of the question to find Richard Simmons there. I want to live in a world where I can turn a corner and be surprised by a guy with a shaved head in a pink tutu and a backpack in the shape of the head of Animal from the Muppets. board games, and the shopping is so much fun. (Oh, and last time I ate lunch at the next table over from Ralph Malph and Pottsie. The guest speaker list always contains nifty surprises.)
It's an experience. There may be better Cons for D&D, but none of them can hope to match DragonCon for the experience. (I really hope I can take Wallybee sometime, I think she'd get a real kick out of it. Though then I couldn't spend most of the day playing D&D.)
I disagree. I think that it doesn't matter what you lied about, but that you lied.
No, I can't go there. Lied about your personal life, lied about intelligence about, say, a foreign country's weapons program. Not the same thing at all.
I don't blame Clinton for lying about Monica; I don't blame Craig for lying about the bathroom. I think they both should face whatever shame comes with those actions, definitely. In Craig's case, the distance between what he practiced and what he preached is enormous. And really, he can preach whatever he wants - what he legislates is the biggie. If it weren't for that, I could give a damn. I could give a damn about Vitter too, again, if it weren't for the fact that they were actively trying to penalize anyone who thought and behaved like them.
Meara, in my head, he'll always be MAYOR FOR LIFE MARION BARRY. Also, go you!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MEARA!!! also BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO leaving DC!
Yay Meara!
ION, was BtVS the first to popularize the "-age"-ing of words? I mean, sticking an "age" on the end of words, like "slayage." Because I'm seeing that done more these days, like this: Apple rumor debunkage: No Bluetooth in iPod Touch
Calling erinaceous, come in erinaceous....
I believe "frottage" and "grindage," to pick two examples Buffistas would enjoy, long predate Whedon. Actually, considering how much Valley Speak is in the Buffy dialect, I wouldn't be surprised if Whedon picked it up directly from things like "grindage."
arguendo
I like this word. I have no idea what it means but I like it.
Me, I think Craig should be out because he's too dumb to live. Actually, using that criterion, probably half of the Senate would be fired.
This is why I am not this country's fearless leader.
arguendo
For the sake of the argument. Which makes it even better.
