'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

In exciting weekend holiday news, I've fixed the patio umbrella with some WD40, so that it tilts readily once again, and I can move it to block the sunbeams through the afternoon so I can do my homework, et cetera, at the patio table.

May not sound like much, but it makes for a much more enjoyable day, really.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Love the Matilda stories!

the air conditioning in the car works but the fan has been coming and going and yesterday it went

On the positive side of things, hopefully this won't be too expensive. If it is expensive, perhaps you can find a used fan motor at a junkyard or eBay or something....

So I guess there's a downside to making up stories about Ninjas and posting them on the internet....

Shaolin monks wage internet war against ninja trolls

Overseers of the 1500-year-old Shaolin Monastery in Beijing, where Buddhist practice and martial arts have long been one, are demanding a public apology from some internet dude who claimed online that a Japanese ninja once whupped the asses of the kung fu monks of Shaolin in a showdown.

...

If the ninja propagandist refuses to apologize, the wushu masters say they may sue him. OR WORSE. And that's what I call real ultimate power.

Swouncing

lori!

I love it that you can see how much Grace have grown in the hand-to-hand pictures. I mean, compare this to this, you know?

And I'm sooooo in love with Noah's pictures with Kat. I can't even choose.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Uhnnn. We're currently in "Does it actually stop the car from running? No? Then don't bother" mode. Generally the fan isn't a big deal, what with the San Francisco and the temperate to foggy and all (and it still works about half the time; it's just horrid luck that the Manteca trip fell during the wrong half).

I'm so selfishly glad I missed out on Balls of Fury. Hec said it was execrable (though Emmett loved it; not as much as Blades of Glory, his current best movie EVAR, but definitely a two thumbs way up movie for a nearly 11-year-old boy).

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

First casualty of moving/packing. Glass-shaded floor lamp, meet ceiling fan. Cue loud bang and shower of glass. Ceiling fan wins. Crap.

Art Crawl!!!

Ha. Now we know who the intended audience for that movie was!

Noah and Grace are just so beautiful.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

OK, this was funny:

Nilly - that's exactly why I like taking the "my hand for scale" pictures - they really have grown so much.

Brenda, bummer about the lamp! No collateral injuries?
