Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Can I get a sanity check? My sister has almost talked me into flying. Which should I do: 26 hours on the road, arrive probably tired and cranky after spending 6 hours in a cheap motel in Virginia; or, $580 to fly?

Now tagless for your comfort.

Fly. I hate driving long distances and will put up with the crap and expense of flying if I don't have to drive.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Do you have the $600?

Yes, I have it, I just hate to spend money. But I'd really like to sleep in my own bed tonight. *whimper*

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Dude, this. My perfect road-trip length is "how close is the nearest airport".

Done! Money spent.

Now I'm nervous. I hate flying. Not the flying part. The getting to the airport on time, will the cab be late again, did I forget something important, usual anxiety crap. Also, now? That caffeine I just slammed wasn't a good idea.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'd fly, given that distance. You can't do AirTran from where you are? That might be a cheaper alternative.

AirTran is what I did. Cheapest I could find, at this late hour. Spontaneity has its price. (About $1100, in fact.)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Fly.

If you have your phone and prescription medicine, you can buy everything else here. When I start worrying whether if I have everything, I use the mantra, "You're not going to darkest Africa. You can buy underwear where you're going."
