'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

And may I add, Max, whoever he was, was pretty neat. Too bad I never met him....

information libertarian

I'm sorry, Jessica. Who is keeping DZ when you go back?

PS: Dear Hormones, She can take the occasional Friday off and have MANY MORE 2:37 pm moments with him.

In other baby news, The Dillo has been crying since he got up at 8. I have no idea why. I gave him tylenol 20 minutes ago, hoping it's more molars coming in. Poor him; poor me (I need to clean the house, since my inlaws are coming this afternoon!)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

This afternoon G goes to renew his passport.(There's some sort of special passport thing going on with some of the local post offices) Beyond that, I have no idea.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Somehow a simple walk just turned into a $350 trip to the vet. Arrrgh.

(Oh, to be clear, nothing bad happened. We just were headed that direction and I remembered that shots were coming due.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Who is keeping DZ when you go back?

MTW next week we have various family members coming into town to babysit, and then Ethan will be home for most of September, and then he goes into daycare.

As soon as the laundry's done, we're taking a trip to the local baby consignment store to trade in the two carriers I don't use for some fall/winter clothes in case there's another early cold spell, and also see if they have any exersaucers or extra hanging toys for his stroller/gymmini.

Poor Dillo. Teething is hard!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ and Matilda (looking super pretty in a tiny black satin dress) are off to brunch with meara. I get the evening socialization with Teppy & Boy tonight.

I'm up because I had a weird not-nightmare.

I had weird dreams last night and they were all shrift's fault!

Why the fuck would I even need to dream about members of Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance?! Huh? Because I looked at her stupid picspacm, that's why.

Bonus dream weirdness: they were hanging out with an un-animated version of the sea captain (from the Frying Dutchman) on The Simpsons.

Art Crawl!!!

Timelies!

Looks like we got no rain last night and the river is down below 14'. It needs to drop another 4 feet to be not in flood.

A friend of mine told me, but did not send me the url for a blog that had excellent pictures of the Kish in flood -- including several taken right next door to where I used to live. So frustrating because I cannot find the blog. I did find these pictures of the flood. But they're not the right ones.

Okay, it wasn't a blog! It was the Daily Chronicle website. Check out the picture - the guy "walking" his six month old puppy on John Street (where I used to live) is a winner!

(ETA - about the 10th picture - guy rowing in his front yard - that is just down the street from where I used to live!)

This blog has some excellent pictures of NIU and DeKalb underwater.

Yeah, that's a great pic, sumi.

Speaking of walking, Wild About Animals was cracking me up this morning. They had this woman who raises wolverines, and she was all "yeah, they don't really make great pets. They're really on a hair trigger, and with the teeth and the claws...it's kind of like walking a chainsaw on a leash."

(Why she personally has pet wolverines she didn't explain.)

And did they ask her?

Plus -- she has more than one? I think that they are solitary creatures, I wonder how well they live in groups.
