I've gotten my last three jobs through Monster or other online sites. But though searching them, not posting a resume and waiting for something to come in.

Yeah, this is my experience. I got my last job through Monster and my current one through Craigslist by searching and applying aggressively and writing kickass cover letters.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

shrift, did you threaten to stab, smite, or otherwise annihilate their enemies?

I've found that demonstrating a capacity for violence and bloodthirsty revenge doesn't really aid the interview process unless you're vying for a spot in the mafia, a crusade of some sort, or as an account executive in the advertising industry.

You're just not meeting with the right prospective bosses.

I think having Tim for a boss would be pretty neat, but I'm not moving to Los Angeles even if it means I get to smite for a paycheck.

More smiting for me!

Swouncing

bon bon, happy second-day-of-your-new-age (your birthday is not on the "Buffista Calendar", which I keep at my secret dark dungeons, so I didn't know, and missed it).

But from now on I'll probably remember it, or rather, remember that there's something I forget about this date, because August 22 is also my brother's birthday (well, not really. It's the general date of his birth, and he celebrates according to the Hebrew one, but still).

Punishingly Intricate

Happy was your birthday, Bon Bon!

This may be a stupid question but is a pluot a combo of a plum and apricot?

If so, huh. The one I had yesterday didn't seem to have any apricotian properties. It was just like a really good (sweet but with an edge of tart, firm fleshed) plum.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yep. There are a few different combos -- pluot, plucot, aprium, and I think I'm missing one -- that are varies degrees of plum and apricot.
