Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

Do you think that those chicks have imprinted on that dog?

possibly, sumi. did you see the one a few months later where they're all taking a nap together and the chicks are on the dogs back? it's adorable.

no problem, Trudy. i was wary the first time i came upon that video too and then i saw the video responses with the same animals weeks and months down the road and knew it couldn't be too awful.

Punishingly Intricate

I need jump tags for the disturbing dog fighting talk!

I just emailed my boss the final (I HOPE) draft of that document i was up all night Sunday and Monday working on. It's one of 7 due in the next 10 months for this project. Please oh please can the other ones not be so rushed and sleep-depriving??? Because, you know, a requirements document for the government is really not as exciting a thing to lose precious sleeping time over as one might think. Not nearly as exciting as, say, sex. Nor as cute and rewarding as, say, a baby.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Now SOME violence is just fun...

(The white guy is my instructor. Frankly, his being so ferocious in his matches and so absolutely patient and careful with his students is what got me started thinking about the whole gentleman/athlete thing.)

Did I mention here that I'm planning on taking Salsa-aerobics at my fitness center this fall? The first class (on 9/11) is free, and the rest will be around $45 or so for the fall session. Since my future BIL is doing the music for their wedding in October, and he's Cuban, a lot of the music is going to be salsa, so learning it beforehand will be great!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Also, Kory, Koby, Kacy and Kody Clemens. If their father had been a ground-ball pitcher, I shudder to wonder what numbers their names might have begun with.

For the non-baseball fun, it's funnier when you know that "K" is used to signify strikeouts, of which Clemen has many. If he was a groundball pitcher I expect his children would be named Squib, Bleeder, HasEyes and ShotUpTheMiddle.

Michael Vick is a depraved fuck, should be banned from the NFL for life (which he will be, but for gambling), and his apologists should go fuck themselves. Or possibly go take classes on logic and ethics.

A local sportswriter once noted that hockey players were routinely the nicest, baseball players the biggest egotistical jerks and 80% of all football players were not people you'd feel comfortable leaving your daughter in the same room with.

As to DJ's question, yes Cal Ripken is one of the all-time good guys in baseball, as is Tony Gwynn. Which is why they had such record turnouts at Cooperstown this year, particularly when all the majors sports look tainted and creepy.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yes, quite frankly, clearly indicating that white font or links go to animal abuse-related matters would be a great help for me, too. I get all out of proportion upset by animal abuse that I don't for human abuse, I think because at least with the human-hurting I have at least some hope that the perpetrator will be sufficiently punished.

Art Crawl!!!

I didn't see the one with the chicks napping on his back -- I saw one where they were two months old and "feeding" in the driveway and another where there were young chicks and older ducklings following him around.
