Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
It wasn't exactly metaphorical, but it wasn't stitches either--just the exploratory voyage every visit to find a good vein.

I ended up ditching the ER. I was so optimistic that the visit would be of a reasonable duration, but just about when I was ready to go he started balking.
So I fled through the back door.
I managed to get the headache from "Fuck! What can I do?" to about an eight, eight and a half. Needless to say I'm in a lot of pain still, and am expecting my mother back from Santa Fe is a few hours.

God, ita. I'm angry at the stupid pissy doctor and at all the specialists who can't seem to focus. It's a useless gesture (but I'm good at them. Useless hope seems to be my skill) but I want you whole and painfree (except where you uh, elicit it.)
