Punishingly Intricate

Fortunately the bad pronounciating whiteys still are allowed taquitos in Refugio (well, taquitos is not really a thing there but, my god, the tamales. Plus all the other Mexican food I grew up on there.)

The status is NOT quo.

I know the basic rules of Spanish. Why the Willamette rhymes with "Dang nabbit?" I will never know.

Growing up in Connecticut (which is, according to InfoPlease, "from an Indian word [Quinnehtukqut] meaning 'beside the long tidal river'"), I have the opposite problem. I get the Native American names for the most part, but I've felt like a total idiot trying to pronounce names in SoCal. ND laughed his ass off at my first attempt at "Cahuenga."

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

How about Waukesha?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

How about Shawano?

(Hint - it's pronounced with two syllables....)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

How does one pronounce Sepulveda?

SehPULvdah.

I like to say it SepulVAYda myself. I seem to recall that's not a bastardisation like the rest, but a family name or something.

The worst here for me was trying to get a cab to take me to Los Feliz. Loss FEELiz, for those not from these parts.

KUH-wheng-uh.

Great. Hec asked a question in movies, and there was some Facebook updating, so I'm still here and can't leave until I find good pictures of Iman and Eve Salvail for my site.

It's good for you, and good for America.
