Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

God to hear, ita.

I miss going to Albuquerque. We used to go to Balloon Fiesta but I liked visiting in Spring even better.

It's a secret we're here. Don't tell!
Won't tell a soul.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I love it when the rain is falling softly outside and it sounds a little like bacon frying in the next room....

Does it smell like bacon too? Mmm, rain of bacon.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Nothing like a shower of salted fat.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You've come 'round!

I've just done all the distraction I think I can accomplish tonight, in sad lieu of painkillers.

Finishing off my dinner of grapes with a dessert of strawberries, and then I'll try and fall asleep in front of the TV.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Are we taking the breat at 3am your time or mine?

Your time - that'll only be midnight for me.

I feel like a celebratory round of bacon.

And then strawberries.

But not together, because I am not a freak or anything.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This was my sister's first hurricane, and they spent hours getting ready for it. Her report was that rain might have leaked in under one patio door, and that she broke a mask denuding the verandah.

As for the outside, one banana plant has gone to a better place, and an avocado tree has lost limbs. Otherwise they (and the friends and family she knows about) are doing okay.

I was frankly surprised to get through when I called, but she sounded like she relished the distraction--they have no power, so she was curled up around a transistor radio listening people call in so that their Auntie Betty would know they'd gone up to town.

So good to hear, ita! Also, astonished that this is your sis's first hurricane. She musta been abroad quite a lot?
