Ew, msbelle! I rarely buy boxed meals now if I can help it, and part of that is because I've never recovered from finding weevils in a box of pasta shells in white cheddar sauce. Years ago. Still with the massive ew.

And I didn't leave the apartment today, either. Why bother? I have booze and champagne grapes and a stack of media to catch up on.

Hi people! I, um, didn't do much today. Went to stretch class and then to brunch. Then most of the day was spent playing with kids, doing laundry, and gardening. And yet cooking preparing dinner somehow required a martini. Hmmm.

I keep thinking that I'll organize the books sometime, but I probably won't. They're crammed on shelves in no order whatsoever; their location is only dictated by where they'll fit on the shelves. I like the happy chaos of my bookshelves.

I organize my research collection and my unread books. The research collection is split into military history, general history, and, uh, Really Big Books That Only Fit on the Bottom Shelf. I regularly just stand in front of those shelves and gloat over the pretties and how they've multiplied since I rejoined the ranks of the gainfully employed. The unread books are just alphabetical by author. I started keeping them together after we moved because I discovered while packing that I had multiple copies of two of them, having bought them, forgotten them, and bought them again. Also, I was tired of knowing I owned the book I wanted to read next but not being able to find it on the shelves.

As for the rest, they're sorta sorted by genre, but I know the system will collapse over time because it's so easy just to shove a book wherever it'll fit.

My books are sorted by my brain. I know where stuff is, but I try to cut down on the books I own. Most fiction gets passed on once I'm done, unless there is the love.

I have a terrible addiction to non-fiction, though. There's really no good reason I have both the big Gray's Anatomy and a matching set of flash cards.

I think I have 3 Percocet to get me through to Monday. And the one I took this evening has just worn off. Life is silly.

Tomorrow I'm going to do very little. Assist, then teach, then come home and keep ploughing through the TiVo and my unwatched DVDs. Maybe even read if I'm feeling all wild and crazy.

My fruit salads came out well. The champagne/cardamom reduction one got good reviews.

ee, I think I should shower, then bed. But I just want to vege.

I met with the painter at new!house, watered plants there, watered plants at present!house,did shopping, watched a Tracy/Hepburn film I'd never seen all of called "Without Love", dyed hair, went to dinner and movies with friend, and am now going to walk the dog and go to bed.

Tomorrow, buy bougainvilla for new!house as surprise for DH, plant it, clean present!house, do laundry, take dog to dog park and welcome DH back from road trip.

I went for a lovely long run in the hills on a new route, got a pedicure and a fish taco and some gelato, looked at some rescue dogs, did some writing. Now I am watching an illegal ahem of a movie starring Matt Damon, and cursing the new hand-held camera technique.

Also laughing at the way there are heads in front of the screen and the sound of people coughing. It's very funny.

Didn't leave the house until almost 5:00 PM today. Then we went out to dinner to celebrate K finishing grad school. We picked Lori up at the airport and left Noah with her. My mom arrives tomorrow (MEEP) so I should be cleaning. But instead, I'm going to pajamafy myself and go to bed.

Have you ever read Kate Braverman, Robin? I always think of her fiction when I see bougainvilla.

Emmett won another trophy today playing in a Berkely Rec baseball game. He had three doubles and closed the game for the win. We actually had TV crews there, but they were there for the other team who were formed as a response to a lot of gang shootings in their neighborhood in Oakland.

So they were the feel good story and we went and ruined it.

Oh, I have read about them, Hecubus. Because my friends see urban blight on the internets and think of me. Which is either sick or quite touching...I haven't decided.
