We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My mom and I picked my sister up at Midway this afternoon. She's in town this weekend for her wedding shower (co-hosted by her godmother and MOH/best h.s. friend), and this is the first time I've seen her in over three years, and definitely the first time I've seen her since she had her gastric bypass surgery last October. Since then, she's reduced from 280 pounds to 165. Since she hit adolescence 30 years ago, the thinnest she's been was around 200 pounds almost 20 years ago.

Ho.ly.crap.

I didn't even recognize her when she came down the escalator in the terminal!

In addition to her skinny frame, she had her hair longer than it'd been since high school, so I seriously did not recognize her. I laughed when she tossed off one of her characteristically snarky remarks to me in the car, and told her that only then was I sure we'd picked up the right woman! It took until tonight before I could reconcile the New Sister with My Sister.

It was really one of the freakiest experiences I've ever had in my life.

Damn. I went out.

Grateful to the people who drove me there and back.

Damn.

I have me some teaching to do tomorrow. Why am I typing?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Last night I had an odd time falling asleep -- my leg would start hurting if I relaxed and/or let it lie still. As long as I was actively tensing it or moving it about, no problem, but just as I would relax enough to start slipping into sleep, it would start sharply aching/cramping.

Eventually painkillers seem to have helped, but weird or what?

The only possible upside to the migraines is the lack of hangovers. I drank a bunch yesterday, and this morning I not only feel fine, but I feel better than most of the mornings of the last week.

I don't know what that's about, but I wonder if it's an indication I should develop a severe drinking habit.

Not as much as last night, though. That was a lot.

ita, does that happen frequently, where if you drink a lot you are hangover free?

I haven't had a hangover since the migraines got crazy--about two years now. Either I wake up with a "normal" migraine, or I wake up feeling just fine, like today.

Though I do wish my mother hadn't called and woken me up. 4 hours of sleep is too little, yet I'm having trouble falling back asleep.

Damn, I drank a lot last night. I even have vague memories of hand-holding.

You're pluralising chunk, though. I fear I'm done for the day.
