Where'd they get CAT scan from?... I mean, did they test it on cats? Or does the machine sort of look like a cat?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My mom and I just got back from dinner in Greektown (Chicago-istas, if you're in the mood for good Greek food on Halsted, Pegasus is excellent) with my SIL and nephew Clayton, who are in town from NJ looking at colleges for him.

They checked out UIC, DePaul, and Roosevelt, and he's hooked on the idea of Chicago for college. He prefers either Roosevelt or DePaul, mostly because of their downtown campusus and shared dormitory on State Street in the south Loop. My SIL, OTOH, has fond memories of her college experience with a separate campus environment and preferred that aspect of UIC. But, she has sworn to herself that she'd leave the decision up to him (this is big for her, since she has always been a very controlling/protective mother and they have always butted heads since practically the moment he was born), so I'm guessing he'll be applying to both DePaul and Roosevelt for computer programming.

I told him I'd always be available if he needed to get away from campus/wanted a free dinner/needed a ride to a Walmart or other store, and he's got his grandpa (my dad) down near Joliet, too. I want to be the cool local aunt, but definitely expect him to be too busy to actually contact me more than once or (maybe) twice a semester.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

well, I might be in Sydney in 2008, I'll try to stop by.

Cool! If you can't, I'll come up to Sydney at some point.

That is just bizarre in a "small world" kind of way.

It is, rather. She is, incidentally, a kick-arse therapist.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Asshole judge files his appeal after the drycleaners withdraw their request for legal fees. I hope the appeals judge smacks him down.

If his pants really were bullheaded, you'd think it would be easier to keep track of them.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

The painters started putting the actual colors on the walls in the new house! I have the most lovely sunny yellow living room, and the grey green on the master bedroom walls is ab-so-lute-ly bee-yoo-ti-ful. I mean, really. With getting actual new bedroom furniture, it's going to be a gorgeous room. I have never had a really pretty bedroom! I am glad the colors look the way I imagined them--trying to visualize from a little paint chip is always a crapshoot.

ION, I get my yearly review from my new boss on Thursday and I am totally dreadalizing it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dude, that is so random about the therapist, bt.

I cannot extrapolate anything useful from my parents' continued relationship. They're my parents. They don't make sense. They exist until such time as they are not they anymore.

But I have a particularly huge gap in my relationship understanding, and I'm trying to fill it with book learning and the right questions. Not working so much so far, although people are helpful.

That pants guy is...well, pants.
