Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Clearly you were meant to have a daybed!

Jesse, hah!

Speaking of holidays, my SIL mentioned that last xmas was great, it being just them (my parents went out at TG, her parents were supposed to come down for xmas but weren't able to at the last minute.) I'm rather happy for them, because they were able to carve out a holiday for just their immediate family, and it sounds like they needed it. I can relate, even without a husband and kids. It was just about carving out their own space, with however you want to define a unit of family.

So apparently, in addition to picking up a tan walking tens of thousands of blocks in 100F and full sun in downtown, driving around with my arm out the passenger window of my brother's car has resulted in a slight burn on my right forearm. I'm reminded why I don't try to work for a tan-my skin doesn't like tanning or burning. Even the tanned parts are a little itchy and bumpy. Sure, I look less sickly (I really do look better with a bit of a tan) but... itchitchitch.

except it's now clear that it was reglazed and the stuff is peeing off (boo!).

Robin, I had the same issue with my tub and elected to have it reglazed again. (I couldn't afford or deal with the trauma of putting in a new tub.) I used these guys. It cost me $500 and they did a pretty awesome job.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's awesome, Robin.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I am off to go watch the stars fall at school, for, lo, school is out in bumfuck where there is little to no light pollution.

Dog is my co-pilot.

Is there anyone here who is a fan of 70s shoes and who happens to wear a size 8-1/2? I'm here cleaning closets and I love these shoes, but I know I'll never wear them again because of my arthritis. (As in I need a hip replacment.) These are vintage brown leather and wood platform sandals. They're still in good shape and they need a home, but they're not going to just anyone. Pics are available here. If you're interested, please e-mail me at nursebobbi at cox dot net.

Now tagless for your comfort.

We're watching the roast of Flavor Flav on Comedy Central. Funneeee. Carrot Top's on now and he looks creepy. I forgot he was a prop comic.

Our wings are not tired.

The boys are watching the roast. I'm ignoring it for the most part and getting ready to go watch meteors.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Back about 13 years ago I went out to the boondocks with a roomie and various friends and camped so we could watch the Perseid meteor shower at night. Never managed to get anything decent captured on film, but there were some amazing trails right overhead. (We even saw halos around the actual meateors in a few cases.)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

The SO's favorite was when he camped out at Chaco Canyon for the Perseids. He was alone in the middle of the desert, once populated by ancient Puebloans (who carved an incredibly accurate solar calendar spiral which still accurately calculates the equinoxes, the solstices, and the lunar 18 year (or whatever it was) cycle). He said it was an amazing experience.

I had hot chocolate and the feral kittens and we sat out in the back yard wrapped up in blankets and it was pretty awesome itself.
