Woohoo. I am properly pantsed.
Also, everyone I have spoken to today, which includes two recruiters and a receptionist, has pronounced my name wrong. It's the THIRD TIME I've talked to the receptionist.
Thanks, Jess. Looks like I need ground ginger...and I don't have anything to grind it with. Do you think shaving with one of those microplaner is a fair substitute? Or are they not talking fresh?
I also need molasses and maybe cardamom.
I want to leave out the walnuts. Don't like walnuts.
In a spice cake recipe, I'd assume that ground ginger means dry in a jar ginger.
Now wondering how on earth one could pronounce Dana's name wrong. Unless I am pronouncing it wrong.
Definitely not fresh ginger.
They mean the dry stuff for that part. The walnuts just go on top of the frosting so leaving them out won't affect the rest of the recipe at all.
I was very surprised to discover that I have ground cloves and cardamom in my spice drawer. I was expecting to have to pull out the spice grinder, and lo, there they were.
Awww, Dylan just keeps on getting cuter.
They pronounce it with a short A rather than a long one. Or sometimes I get "Donna."
I don't have cardamom. I've been meaning to buy it ever since Generation X but clearly I never do.
Although the more you mention the ingredients, the more delicious that recipe sounds.
Oh, oh, and if that smile came with a laugh, you need to throw a party! I think I've mentioned this here before, but the Navajo tradition is when a baby first laughs, the person who made him/her laugh throws them a big bash. Then during the party, you put candy in the hand of the baby and help them to give it to each person who attends. Then the baby will be generous throughout her/his life.
I used to work with a D(short-a)na. She got my name wrong way too often.
I wonder if I do have dry ground ginger. I suspect I have cardamom--I'm getting a weird sense memory. My spices are arranged for crap, though.
Luckily with this new job I can go grocery shopping at lunch, get home, see what I still have missing and pick that up after work or kettlebell this evening.
