Shoes generally stretch side-to-side but not in length
Side-to-side is what I need. I committed and wore them out to lunch, and they're perfectly wearable right now, so if they don't stretch, I'll still be okay. They're also nice and padded, plus I get at least an inch in height from wearing them.
As part of the whole Video Games Live concert I got to sing in, they had a Space Invaders segment. They'd bring an unsuspecting schmuck up from the audience, ask if he/she knew Space Invaders, etc. And then they'd give them a t-shirt to put on, which had the little ship on the back, and that allowed the tech guys to track the person's movements. They got a fire button, and they had to run around the stage, trying to shoot. It was really entertaining to watch, even though those of us on the stage couldn't see the screen.
Can you see the young lady/old lady optical illusion in this photograph? I don't...and I wonder if it would be easier in a flipped image.
Nope -- I think because in a real person, it's super-obvious that an ear is not an eye, frex.
ita, I can see it, but, very oddly, only if I close my left eye. With both eyes, or with the left but not the right, it's just the young woman.
Can you see the young lady/old lady optical illusion in this photograph?
Yes, but it took a minute. The young lady's chin is the old lady's nose.
eta: I first saw it when I tilted my head to the side.

Jesse is me.
I have to block out the pictures next to it (and the heading) so I can see the old woman in the drawing. For some reason seeing the words Young Woman kept me from seeing the old woman.
I flipped it, squinted, and looked back and forth between the photo and a drawing of the illusion. I think the main problem is that the young woman's neckline is way too low, making the old woman's chin too long. And then the eye is the second problem.
I finally got the old lady.
Anyone have any suggestions for this question I just got in my email?
It's a term for a kind of compulsion or tendency that a person has to repeat the same patterns in their lives, like seeking out the same relationships or whatnot, usually with a negative connotation. I think it might be a psychological term, in a noun form. Any ideas? "Neurosis" and "mania" keep popping into my head, but it's obviously not those.
